EARTHQUAKE IN COLOMBIA
On August 10, a devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Colombia, causing an unprecedented catastrophe across the country. With its epicenter in San José del Palmar, Chocó, the quake has left over 100 people dead and dozens injured, while causing the collapse of homes and critical infrastructure in regions such as Chocó, Valle del Cauca, and the Coffee Region (Eje Cafetero).
Given the immense scale of the tragedy and the declaration of a national disaster, thousands of families have been left stranded amidst the rubble, lacking access to clean water, food, medical care, and safe shelter.

TECHO currently operates in four of Colombia's major metropolitan areas: Barranquilla, Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali, walking alongside families and communities on their path toward greater inclusion and better opportunities.

OUR EXPERIENCE IN EMERGENCY RESPONSE
For over two decades, TECHO has consolidated a rapid response model for disasters and climate emergencies across Latin America and the Caribbean. Throughout our history, we have responded to dozens of natural disasters, ranging from massive earthquakes and volcanic eruptions to floods, hurricanes, and severe wildfires.
